All she wants is a sign One to make her feel more than a dime She’s normal, apparently But no, something’s changing She’s talking in her sleep Her violent ways showing Nobody knows just where you are And they don’t even know what you’re thinking When you’re lying in your bed You may not even know that you’re bleeding Oh Lady Velvet Open up your eyes You may think you’re so special But I see through your disguise Walking around the town Always down What’s wrong with you girl Oh god, something’s changing She’s a killer more than a queen And she won’t let me this quirky dream Nobody knows just where you are And they don’t even know what you’re thinking When you’re lying in your bed You may not even know that you’re bleeding Oh Lady Velvet Open up your eyes You may think you’re so special But I see through your disguise The killer Is on the loose Lock your doors Her true self is breaking through Something’s changed Something has changed Nobody knows just where you are And they don’t even know what you’re thinking When you’re lying in your bed You may not even know that you’re bleeding Oh Lady Velvet Open up your eyes You may think you’re so special But I see through your disguise

Ghost Girl 05:17
Bleeding from my pores as I lie in my bed Watching endless horses racing through my head Tossing and turning while the lights stay on And voices start talking to me saying I’m wrong Please don’t go Oh please don’t go Times are tough when you’re drinking alone Staring at the digits running from your phone Turning off lights after several hours Stabbing away the pain while I cower Please don’t go Oh please don’t go She’s watching over me as I sleep And I dream of a release sinking into the deep Shadows climb the wall as I’m filled with fear And she comes into the room to start another year Please don’t go Oh please don’t go She’s always with me endlessly But she never sees what I can see As I drink once more and I face the sun And she says I may as well be done Saying things are fine as I choke once again Shutting mouths of lions, no more angels in the den Watching her leave through the window bare And I know when I wake up no one was ever there Please don’t go Oh please don’t go

Lana 03:55
She was my enemy someone to hate But then she got sucked into an awful fate She never ever let your mind forget All the people that she loved but never met And how she’ll change her mind one day but not yet So goodbye Lana goodbye You never do nothing but cry And rip up the pictures of your lover’s friends So goodbye Lana goodbye You never let me ask why You love me while you push your man to his end She ridiculed all things that you’d do But when she’s alone she’s no different from you She loved but hated you in so many ways And then she’d try and cut my ties away While she’d look in my eyes and beg me to stay So goodbye Lana goodbye You never do nothing but cry And twist the truth of what is wrong and right So goodbye Lana goodbye You never let me ask why You lived in darkness while you loved the light Then while you died she was wrecked with dread By all of the demons that lived in her head But she got over everything so fast She wasn’t even there when you breathed your last She burned us down and left us trapped in the past So goodbye Lana goodbye You never do nothing but cry And pick up the pieces of your shattered heart So goodbye Lana goodbye You never let me ask why You tried to make your own life fall apart So while you stand so tall and face the waves You reflect the feelings you would never say While I only see what’s long passed away

As I was down at the pub, a man walked in He was short and fat, yet tall and thin He sat at a table and he ordered a beer And I saw the waiter’s eyes widen with fear There was smoke billowin’ out of the man’s throat And a dark stain upon the check he wrote The man got up and he walked out the door Trailing black remnants on the floor He was a man sized crow, a man sized crow He had long black wings and a dark blue cloak He was sadly wading through some sickly oceans As he led his life going through the motions But he didn’t even know that he was a man sized crow As I saw him leave my skin turned green And I chased him down as the crew changed scenes I walked up to the man and I asked him to see But he refused and retreated to his lonely tree His eye was light and it was full of depth But he was dark all over down to his breath The man told me to leave him then So I dropped dead then I rose again He was a man sized crow, a man sized crow He had long black wings and a dark blue cloak He was sadly wading through some sickly oceans As he led his life going through the motions But he didn’t even know that he was a man sized crow As I picked up a stone on that day to toss I spotted a creature that was made of moss It was hidden amongst the trees and pollen And beneath it all was a mass of dead skin The tomb in the pond was empty and bare With the stone rolled away as the man left there And when he picked up his stone to throw He’s not a man at all, but a man sized crow He was a man sized crow, a man sized crow He had long black wings and a dark blue cloak He was sadly wading through some sickly oceans As he led his life going through the motions But he didn’t even know that he was a man sized crow He was a man sized crow, a man sized crow He had long black wings and a dark blue cloak He was sadly wading through some sickly oceans As he led his life going through the motions But he didn’t even know that he was a man sized crow No he didn’t even know that he was a man sized crow

When I came over to your house you were stuck inside a wall Your life had changed from green to red like leaves on trees in fall There were pieces of your lonely mind scattered all across the floor And the look in your eyes had been long gone as your soul walked out the door You had been a very lucky man, had all that some hold dear But you turned away, locked out the world, all because of your own fear Just wipe the tapes and start again And find yourself another friend You’ve got the walk, you’ve got the talk But won’t break through when you hit a rock Just wipe the tapes and start anew And pretend that nobody loved you So when times are bad you won’t be sad You just won’t know the life you had When I would listen to your words, you would always bleed so open You cut dark things into your heart, and you’d make so many new friends You’d write about the fucked up world, and you told such tragic stories While the ones who loved you glorified the dead future you teased All the people you saw in your life, just killed you by mistake So you never found a reason to be happy when you wake Just wipe the tapes and start again And find yourself another friend You’ve got the walk, you’ve got the talk But won’t break through when you hit a rock Just wipe the tapes and start anew And pretend that nobody loved you So when times are bad you won’t be sad You just won’t know the life you had When I walked up to your hotel room it was hollow, barren and empty There was no trace left of you that day since you left and took a taxi You drove around your old neighborhood and were dropped off at your car Gathering old mementos for a trip that wasn’t very far After parking near an old bridge that was just outside of town You vanished on that winter day, leaving just your written sounds Just wipe the tapes and start again And find yourself another friend You’ve got the walk, you’ve got the talk But won’t break through when you hit a rock Just wipe the tapes and start anew And pretend that nobody loved you So when times are bad you won’t be sad You just won’t know the life you had Oh the legacy you left behind it shone so far and wide So you look down on all of us wishing that you really died

about

My third studio album. This album is my third and final lo-fi, piano-centric album and the last in the trilogy that began with my debut. And since that debut featured all covers, and my second studio album featured all originals, this album brings things full circle by containing half covers and half original material, hence the album’s title.
The five original songs were all written sometime in 2019, with “Wipe The Tapes” and “Man Sized Crow” originating from the spring writing sessions for my second album, and the other three songs being written in the fall. Additionally, “Lady Velvet (Full Circle)” and “Man Sized Crow” were originally recorded by Jebb & The Riots on the album “Beachy Winter”, which came out in December of 2019. “Man Sized Crow” was given to Jebb by myself, and “Lady Velvet (Full Circle)” was written by the two of us together, making the version on here my first song on a solo album to feature a co-writer. All five of the songs I cover are ones I absolutely love and wanted to put my own spin on. Most of these covers also feature me experimenting with vocal harmonies, most noticeably on the cover of “Rise Up With Fists!!”.
Musically most of the songs here continue the sparse, piano and vocal-centered arrangements of my previous solo work, though two tracks noticeably depart from that sound, with my cover of “If This Is It” being centered around electric piano and synthesizers, and my cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” which is... well let’s just say it’s an interesting beast.
Though this will be my last lo-fi solo album, I feel like I’m leaving this portion of my career on a very high note with my strongest set of recordings yet, and I hope you all enjoy it as well.
